The Playdate

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Streamline Technology Labs, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use The Playdate mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of parents, caretakers, and the children whose information is entrusted to us. Please read this policy carefully.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account and use The Playdate, we collect the following information you provide:

  • Email address — used for account management and service notifications
  • Phone number — used to send SMS RSVP invitations to parents who are not yet registered on The Playdate; your number is hashed (encrypted) before storage and is never sold or shared for marketing purposes
  • Children's information — first names, ages, and activity interests (e.g., soccer, art, swimming); we do not collect photos, last names, or school information about children
  • Location data — your approximate or precise location, used to surface nearby venues and activity suggestions during playdate scheduling; location is only accessed when you are actively using the scheduling features
  • Playdate details — activity type, date, time, location, and invited parent information that you input when creating or responding to a playdate

Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information:

  • Device information — device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
  • Usage data — features accessed, playdates created and confirmed, timestamps of activity
  • Log data — IP address, access times, error reports, and crash logs
  • Push notification interactions — whether notifications were delivered and opened

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate, maintain, and improve The Playdate. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Send SMS invitations and RSVP links to parents you invite who are not yet on The Playdate
  • Suggest nearby venues and activities based on your location
  • Deliver push notifications for playdate requests, responses, and schedule changes
  • Facilitate coordination and messaging between parents for playdate planning
  • Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Respond to your support requests and inquiries
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations

We do not use your information or your children's information to:

  • Target advertising to children
  • Sell, rent, or lease personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes
  • Train AI or machine learning models on your personal data without explicit consent

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

The Playdate is designed for use by parents and caretakers who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13.

The limited children's information we collect — first name, age, and activity interests — is provided by a parent or caretaker for the sole purpose of facilitating playdate scheduling. This information is:

  • Never used to create a profile for or market to the child
  • Never shared with third parties for commercial purposes
  • Never used to identify or contact the child directly
  • Deleted immediately and permanently upon account deletion

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child without consent, please contact us at theplaydate@streamlinetechlabs.com.

4. SMS Communications

The Playdate uses SMS messaging as a core feature to deliver playdate invitations and RSVP links to parents who have not yet downloaded the app. By creating a playdate and adding a phone contact as an invitee, you acknowledge that:

  • An SMS message containing a playdate invitation and RSVP link will be sent to the phone number(s) you provide
  • The recipient can respond YES or NO via a magic link without downloading the app
  • Registered users of The Playdate receive all communications within the app and do not receive SMS messages from us

SMS is used exclusively for playdate invitations and RSVP delivery. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.

5. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications to your device to keep you informed about activity that matters to you. Push notifications are sent when:

  • You receive a new playdate invitation
  • A parent responds to your playdate invitation (accepted or declined)
  • A playdate you are part of is rescheduled or cancelled
  • A reschedule proposal requires your response

You can manage push notification preferences at any time in your device's system settings. Disabling push notifications will not affect your ability to use the Services, but you may miss time-sensitive playdate updates.

6. Location Data

We request access to your location to power the Points of Interest (POI) map feature, which surfaces child-friendly venues near you during the playdate scheduling flow. Specifically:

  • Location is used to show nearby parks, indoor play spaces, museums, sports facilities, and cafes
  • We default to your home area stored in your profile — precise GPS is only accessed if you grant permission
  • Location data is sent to Google Places API to retrieve venue information; please review Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles this data
  • Location data is sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather conditions for weather-aware venue suggestions
  • We do not sell or share your location data with advertisers

You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings. If you disable location access, you can still use the Services but the POI map feature will show your saved home area only.

7. Third-Party Services

The Playdate integrates with the following third-party services to deliver core functionality. Each has its own privacy policy governing their data practices:

Google Places API — Used to retrieve venue information, addresses, photos, and ratings for the POI map. Location and search queries are sent to Google. Please review Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Open-Meteo — Used to retrieve weather data to power weather-aware venue suggestions (e.g., surfacing indoor venues on rainy days). Approximate location is sent to Open-Meteo. Please review Open-Meteo's privacy practices at open-meteo.com.

Supabase — Our backend database and infrastructure provider. Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers. Supabase does not have the right to use your data for its own purposes. Please review Supabase's Privacy Policy at supabase.com/privacy.

We do not integrate with advertising networks, data brokers, or social media tracking pixels.

8. Data Security

We take the security of your information seriously and implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect it from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS
  • Encryption of sensitive fields (including phone numbers) at rest using bcrypt hashing
  • Secure backend infrastructure managed through Supabase with row-level security policies
  • Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel only

While we use commercially reasonable security measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law, including California's data breach notification requirements.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Services. Specifically:

  • Account data (email, phone number, profile information) is retained until you delete your account
  • Children's information (names, ages, activity interests) is deleted immediately and permanently upon account deletion
  • Playdate history and messages are retained for the duration of your account and deleted upon account deletion
  • After account deletion, we may retain anonymized, non-identifiable aggregate data for product improvement purposes
  • Backup copies may be retained for up to 30 days following account deletion before being permanently purged

To delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings > Account > Delete Account within the app, or contact us at theplaydate@streamlinetechlabs.com.

10. Your Privacy Rights

California Residents — CCPA/CPRA Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know — You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to Delete — You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
  • Right to Correct — You may request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale — We do not sell personal information; this right is automatically satisfied
  • Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at theplaydate@streamlinetechlabs.com. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days as required by California law.

All Users

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

  • Access and update your account information within the app at any time
  • Delete your account and associated data (see Section 9)
  • Opt out of push notifications via device settings
  • Request information about how your data is used by contacting us directly

11. Calendar Integration

The Playdate offers optional calendar sync that allows confirmed playdates to appear in your device's native calendar (iOS Calendar or Google Calendar). This feature is entirely optional and works as follows:

  • When you confirm a playdate, you will be offered the option to add it to your calendar
  • If you accept, we will request permission to access your calendar to create a calendar event
  • We only create events; we do not read, modify, or delete any existing calendar entries
  • We do not retain or store any of your calendar data on our servers

You can toggle calendar sync on or off at any time in app settings. Disabling sync will not affect your playdate data in The Playdate.

12. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of The Playdate after receiving notice of material changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
