Rainy-Day Blanket Fort HQ
Turn the living room into a fort city with blankets, flashlights, and a strict no-grown-ups policy.
Every parent needs one rainy-day plan that doesn't involve a screen or a craft store run. The blanket fort is that plan, and it scales beautifully: two kids get a cozy hideout, five kids get a fort city with districts.
Give each kid a zone — the reading nook, the snack station, the lookout tower (a chair with a blanket over it). Hand out flashlights and let them name their districts. The naming ceremony alone buys you twenty minutes.
Rules that help: one blanket per kid from the linen closet (not the good throw blankets), all snacks in the kitchen zone, and a 10-minute cleanup race at the end with a silly prize. Forts come down fast when there's a trophy involved.
Pro move: take a photo of the fort city and text it to the other parents. It becomes the playdate's trophy, and it makes the next invitation easier to say yes to.
